TICKETS ON SALE NOW.

In this workshop, we will commune with our inner worlds in relation to the places we live, work and dream, as basis for writing poetry.

Book into ‘A Little Editor for Little Poems - An Introduction to Bitsy Game Maker’ with Tegan Webb via Zoom on Sunday 17 July at 11am AEST or Thursday 21 July at 6.30pm AEST.

Bitsy is a free digital tool that lets you create small, interactive narrative games/stories/poems in simple pixel art style. No coding or visual art experience is required to participate in this workshop! TICKETS ON SALE NOW.

Join us for ‘Eliminating inspiration’ with Holly Isemonger via Zoom on Sunday 14 August at 11am AEST or Thursday 18 August at 6.30pm AEST. This workshop will focus on getting around the troubling idea that you need to be “inspired” to write poetry. TICKETS ON SALE NOW.

Drawing on the techniques of the Oulipo and other “formalist games” we’ll see how we can turn writing poetry into a productive kind of game, into a real kind of play.

Queensland Poetry Writers’ Group

This new group for poetry writers meets monthly at the Brisbane City Council Brisbane Square Library —266 George St.

The primary purpose of the group:

  • is to provide a safe forum for poems to be critiqued for structure, tone, voice, emotions, clarity and for poetic devices, such as rhythm, structure, images, metaphors/similes, etc.

  • To discuss Australian poetry themes and topics and poetry’s contribution to Australian society.

  • To discuss writing poetry and poetics – forms, devices, techniques, structures, use of rap, etc.

The group formation has the support and encouragement of the Fellowship of Australian Writers Queensland (FAWQ), Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) and Queensland Poetry.

The next meeting will be held at 4pm on Thursday 12 May 2022. ZOOM facilities are available.
