We’re excited to announce our World Poetry Day celebrations on March 21 co-presented with Singapore Writers Festival. Singapore Emerging will premiere on Facebook Live at 7pm AEST.

These celebrations will kick off our amazing online Queensland Poetry Festival Program, leading up to our live festival ‘Emerge’ from 3-5 June at the Judith Wright Centre in Meanjin (Brisbane).

Our 2022 Queensland Poetry Festival Program launches on World Poetry Day, 21 March! We look forward to seeing you in Meanjin/Brisbane from 3-5 June, or at our Emerge Online program beginning on 21 March.


📣 Volta poetry is back!

âš¡VOLTA is co-presented monthly by Queensland Poetry and Brisbane Square Library, bringing you electric poetry, spoken word, and the unexpected. Free, but BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL.

VOLTA APRIL 2022 features Jarrah L. Barton, Claire Alcock and Damen O’Brien, and will be held in-person at the Brisbane Square Library on Friday 1 April at 6pm AEST. BOOK NOW.


📣 Rewatch our Poet in Residence readings

Watch a captivating poetry reading by the exceptional Eileen Myles (they/them) who came to New York from Boston in 1974 to be a poet. Their books include For Now (an essay/talk about writing), I Must Be Living Twice/new and selected poems, and Chelsea Girls. Eileen has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and an award from the American Academy of Arts & Letters. They live in New York and Marfa, TX. Watch the video on our YouTube.

Listen to four stunning poems read by LANIYUK, a Larrakia, Kungarakan, Gurindji, and French writer and performer of poetry and short memoir. Laniyuk received Canberra’s Noted Writers Festival’s 2017 Indigenous Writers Residency, Overland’s 2018 Writers Residency and was shortlisted for Overland’s 2018 Nakata-Brophy poetry prize. Watch an intimate, engaging reading by Andy Jackson. Andy Jackson is a poet, essayist and creative writing teacher. He has been shortlisted for the Kenneth Slessor Prize for Poetry, the John Bray Poetry Award and the Victorian Premier's Prize for Poetry. His latest poetry collection is Human Looking (Giramondo, 2021).
