Workshop Extraordinary Sentences: Writing Prose Poetry
Friday 21 April
2.00 pm - 4.00 pm
Workshop Room, State Library of Queensland
Facilitators: Cassandra Atherton and Paul Hetherington
Prose poetry is a resurgent contemporary form well suited to writing about everyday life. It challenges assumptions about what poetry can be and opens creative possibilities. But how do you write a good prose poem? Widely published prose poets, Cassandra and Paul will explore the prose poem as fragmentary and yet complete, its condensations of space and time, and its use of figurative language and imagistic detail. They’ll discuss prose poems by important contemporary prose poets and provide practical writing exercises.
Ticket types: $50 (waged), $40 (unwaged), $60 (generous supporter)
Accessibility: This venue is wheelchair accessible.
