A Little Editor for Little Poems - An Introduction to Bitsy Game Maker

With Tegan Webb

DATES: Choose either Sunday 17th July at 11am AEST or Thursday 21 July at 6.30pm AEST

Bitsy is a "little editor for little games" - a free digital tool that lets you create small, interactive narrative games/stories/poems in simple pixel art style. In this workshop, we'll teach you how to use Bitsy to create a poem that is also a world, a poem in which you can walk around, talk to people and be somewhere.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn about Bitsy, the Bitsy community and it's value as a tool for poets.

  • Be guided through the basic mechanics of how Bitsy works - how to draw simple pixel art, write and implement interactive text, and move through the world you've built.

  • Make a small, self contained interactive poem that you can share with others and host online if you wish.

What you need to participate:

  • Zoom and a reliable Internet connection

This workshop is suitable for:

  • Poets of any age or experience

  • No coding or visual art experience is required to participate in this workshop! However, Bitsy is a internet browser based tool, so you will need access to a desktop or laptop computer and an internet connection to participate.

Ticketing:

Tickets are priced on a sliding scale, from concession ($30) to full ($40) to generous supporter ($50, i.e. subsidise a concession ticket by choosing to pay a bit extra).
